More than 40 electric taxis are financed by Raiffeisen Leasing Kosova through EBRD and the EU

Raiffeisen Leasing Kosova (RLKO) continues its commitment to sustainable finance development and environmental protection, in line with Raffeisien Bank International’s principles. The agreement signed in June 2022 with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), dedicated to the financing of equipment with innovative technology through financial leasing, such as electric cars and photovoltaic panels, has resulted in the financing of 43 electric cars. With a total investment of EUR 1,883,800 implemented by two of the well-known taxi services providers operating in Pristina, these investments, financed under the EBRD and the EU - "Kosovo SME Competitiveness Support Programme”, qualify for a 15% grant, financed by the European Union as part of the SME Competitiveness Programme benefits.

Raiffeisen Leasing Kosova is a part of Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI) Group that is the first Austrian bank that signed the UN Principles for Responsible Banking thus showing commitment to offer sustainable lending services for the society and our role to  finance the green and just transition in Kosovo.

Therefore, the offer of sustainable leasing lending with social and green criteria remains the mission that we follow in Raiffeisen Leasing Kosovo.

Investment in 100% electric cars will have a positive impact directly to the environment  which is one of the aims of Raiffeisen Leasing Kosovo’s sustainable financing through “Green Leasing”.

The "Kosovo SME Competitiveness Support Programme” is a credit line developed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Union. The programme aims to improve the competitiveness of businesses and their opportunities for trade in the region and with EU countries, through targeted investments and supported with grants and free technical assistance. EBRD provides funds for loans through partner financial institutions in Kosovo, while the EU provides grants and free technical assistance.

"The EBRD’s priorities include investing in green economy and the private sector and this project is a great example of both. It is also a great example of our successful cooperation with Raiffeisen Leasing Kosovo, with whom we will continue to extend affordable financing to reach even more SMEs in the country," said Sergiy Maslichenko, Head of the EBRD in Kosovo.

The SME Competitiveness Support Programme in Kosovo by 31 January 2023 has financed 163 projects in the total value of 32.1 M EUR, contributing to the preservation of 4,248 jobs.
